I remember he tried to Single handedly hold Trekweb together when the owners just let it go. At least Virogen gave the OS an official end and just didn't let it die of neglect. Pretty much. He posted news and did the best he could do and the place just stopped loading threads half the time until Archangel just turned out thr lights. It was a sad way for the place to go.

Kind of disheartening, right? Everything vanished into the void... People used to say that on the internet nothing really disappear, I wonder if that is true. Can someone with technical knowhow be able to retrieve that Omega archive? How the saying goes from Blade Runner "all those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain." It is possible. My first Star Trek forum was called STV.com (StarTrekVoyager.com). It went the same route as OS but many years later someone was able to archive it. No one can post on it (obviously) but it is possible to essentially turn it into a "read-only" website so you can go back and have a nostalgia-fest re-reading old posts. Now if someone will do that with OS is a whole other question. It is sad but it's nice that Prom was nice enough to build this new place for us that we can build out new memories on. As G'Kar says "I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains." We can build new memories here and continue our nerdy obsessions and philosophical pinings here too. Prometheus has done this:

I still don't understand why TheOmegaSector has been closed. Admins of Trekcore could do transfer the entire forum and user base to another hosting. This forum is like a continuation of a group of regular posters from Omega Sector. I think people were missing the small town atmosphere and therefore not enjoying the TrekBBS experience. Omega had to close because the person who was looking after the hardware and setup couldn’t do it any more. It’s complex to run a full server based BBS, as I understand it. This is probably the most like that experience that could be set up, so I’m happy to be here. I appreciate that it’s here. 👍🖖🏻

It must’ve been tough for Gus. I did miss him when he’d gone. He could be pretty funny. But requesting to be banned? I guess he didn’t trust himself enough not to come back and weep blood and urine on those of us attempting to find good in Kurtzman-Trek.

Trek was dead to him, he liked Marvel more, and he'd inevitably backslide to trashing NuTrek even when you, I, and others tried to call him out, albeit as gently as possible.

Rose-tinted specs, and all that. But you could never convince him - he was wedded to the idea that everything was better back in the good ol' days, as if those 26 episodes-long seasons didn't throw up the odd stinker. Or in some cases, whole seasons that were comprised more of boring stinkers than worthwhile episodes, like TNG S7.

I just couldn't find any rational basis for that at all. Mount has been wonderful. Even Hunter's son went to a con just to meet Mount and tell him his father would be proud of the portrayal.

In fact, it was Mount who broke my absolute Cynicism toward NuTrek to begin with. I love Anson Mount's Pike. He IS Pike. -So yeah even I cannot be THAT absolute.

In fact, it was Mount who broke my absolute Cynicism toward NuTrek to begin with. I love Anson Mount's Pike. He IS Pike. -So yeah even I cannot be THAT absolute. Mount was S2 of Disco's absolute saving grace, time and time again. While a slight improvement over S1, S2 was also pretty awful, a charge I lay at the door of the writing and all the behind-the-scenes upset, not any other factor. For me, Mount was 100% convincing as Pike immediately. He took even the dodgiest of those S2 scripts and made them work just by being so damn watchable and convincing. True star power, I'd say, and very much with the kind of leading man charisma Gus used to say he loved about Hunter. What's not to like? Gus was a good guy, and his love for Trek was deep. I get that. If I'm honest, a lot of Kurtzman-era Trek does little for me, but I feel that a wholesale rejection of all of it is misguided, if not edging towards the extreme. If I'd stopped watching in observance of some strange ritual of loyalty to past iterations of the show, I'd have missed both SNW and Prodigy, both of which are well written, fun, high quality shows which genuinely take the franchise forward. Isn't that want we want, as fans? Hell, ignore what you don't like and enjoy what you do.

I may have moved on from Star Trek (and frankly, also from Jean-Luc Picard now, with PIC they managed to thoroughly destroy everything I ever held dear) but sometimes it's good to talk to my old fandom friends!

Not sure where to post this but I'm kinda curious/concerned about the lack of posting on this forum lately. It seems like some regulars have disappeared. I understand there isn't a main Star Trek show going on but typically on other forums there usually is ample discussion on other topics non-ST related.

I understand there isn't a main Star Trek show going on but typically on other forums there usually is ample discussion on other topics non-ST related. I am still here too! Life have been hectic and I haven't found time to post as often. I must admit also that I am mostly moved by Star Trek only. I see a lot of activity here about Star Wars and superhero franchises but the truth is that those subjects said nothing to me. Star Wars is a poorly implemented Hero's Journey riff (which can only be -Star Wars- a good canvas to explore political ideas, and that's about it) and I drop from the whole thing the moment Jar Jar Bing pop his big head to the screen. And superheros... I don't know. I only enjoyed Batman and Sandman comics back in the day. I care nothing for the whole Marvel universe thing.
Otherwise, I like it here. I like the discussions and the respectful honesty. It is a small forum, and maybe is better like that.
