I'm here. I'm here all the time but at a different board. Is there a way to e-mail the people at the old board and tell them about this one? Some people might only check in every few months. I left a couple of messages and links if anyone checks in at OS in the next couple of days before the old board goes dark, but I don't have moderator privileges over there so can't email members. Dunno if @sehlatvie is able to? |

I was thinking of members who used to regularly post in the past but are lurkers now who check in every few months. Do the mods have access to a member list? Sort it by number of posts. Mass e-mail everyone whose posted in the last year with a certain number of posts. 100, 500, 1000, doesn't matter. I can't find the members list there. This board has one. |

Well, I guess the more accurate announcement for Omega Sector was that 1/14 was the last day since it is shutdown today.
I'm happy to see that there are links to both this site and TrekBBS on the splash page(?) when you try to go there.

It was open after midnight my time so I guess it was technically still open on the 15th. This site was down for me from last night to a short time ago. I didn't even see it listed as one of boards on the sight. |

Yeah, I also PM'd Founder last night as well.
I mentionned that recently but it's a lot of content that was lost today (the place was still active when I checked around 1AM EST), but given that most users (and administrators) slowly moved on in the last few years, I guess it was somewhat bound to happen.
But I was happy to see that the Omega Sector owners left a message to the users who have been away where they can find the remants of the community.
Regarding this forum, as Scenario mentionned, it seemed to have some issues this weekend, but I wouldn't be too worried: At least we have redundancies now!

Well said. I agree. I imagine Prometheus is still looking for ways to spoof this board up. I noticed the ticker on the home page. Its a nice touch. When I'm here on my mobile, i scroll to the bottom and select the desktop version. the mobile version doesn't show as much info. |

Yeah, I'm still trying to get things figured out, (like the ticker) but I'm not sure how much more spiffing up I can do without starting to spend serious money. For example, in about two weeks we'll start seeing banner ads on top in a manner I think like TrekBBS.
That said, what ProBoards sees as "intuitive" and easy to use are not quite so to me. I suspect that's because I first started working with computers when they were green-screen Commodore PETs in junior high.
I dare say I've kept up well enough with things, but this is my first foray into any "back end" stuff at all.

Personally I don't have problems with ads until they become intrusive like flashing to get attention or taking up 3/4ths of the screen or autoplay. They have to pay for the site somehow.

When it comes to publicity of any kind, I'm pretty happy with my plugged-in solutions to minimize them, so no worries about ads on my side.
As for costs, Prom, will you need any assistance on that front?
