So we all know about the TOS studio model being one sided due to making room for the lighting rig on the port side. We only saw the starboard side (unless mirrored) However, did anyone notice that in Star Trek The Motion Picture, we only ever see the Port side of the refit? As a matter of fact, the first time we get a glimpse of the starboard side of the model is not until the Enterprise is approaching Regula 1 in the Wrath of Khan. Then it alternates from there.
So, was it time constraints? Did they forget there were multiple mounting points on the model? ...Were they making up for the lack of seeing the port side in TOS? Or did they just not think about it?
thoughts?

They had to do a bunch of repair work on it in a short time. Some guy showing off to his girlfriend and blew the circuits, water spilled on the bridge causing paint peeling and warping, etc. It also weighed 85 lbs altogether and was 8 ft. long. I imagine even with the model wranglers I'm sure it was a pain to mount. I'm going with time constraints and terror they'd break it re-mounting it

It didn't look right. It was..too square in the back. The replacement was better. www.ex-astris-scientia.org/scans/other/er-rear-beauty.jpg example, one of the few pictures of it i can find...but eaglemoss XL model seems to have that version for some reason.

Hmmm. Not seeing that.
I wish the Eaglemoss / Hero Collector edition of the 1701-A had a more accurate bridge.

Yeah. I mean, that whole assembly (Decks 1&2) looks off. Deck 2 is too...bulbous, while deck 1 is too....plain and square.

Thank you. That's actually quite a beautiful shot. Yeah, it's a lot squarer. They smoothed it out, made it less angular. The EM XL model has this earlier iteration of the bridge. In-universe, you could explain it as a different bridge module... it was explained that they were designed to be popped in and out for easy upgrades.

Yeah, works great for the ever changing bridge...until you get to Star Trek VI that is. For Star Trek VI, you have to change the entire turboshafts throughout the saucer because the Turbolifts move to the sides of the bridge lol.

Buffers and space for the forcefield generators theta protect the bridge. (There is always an in-universe explanation if you're willing to entertain it...)

Me, reading that: Yes. I was quite mortified reading about it. It's like using van Gogh's "Starry Night" as a pizza tray...
