Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes(SPOILERS)

Streamed this one recently and I enjoyed it. When the movie came out I was skeptical about why this movie was being made since the previous trilogy accomplished a fantastic job of telling the origin stories for Caesar. It seemed like there was nothing else to tell other than milking a franchise. 

Even after watching this latest movie my takeaway is still that this is being made for those purposes and yet the movie wasn't bad. It seems like we're getting a trilogy out of Battle for the Planet of the Apes from the original movies; this one serving as a prologue of sorts to the actual conflict(again) between humans and apes. 

Quick thoughts:

- I always enjoy the orangutans with their more academic view of what's happening. 
- I liked 'Nova'....but you could see that twist coming a mile away. You could make a whole movie just from her perspective and what led her to these events. 
- It's interesting to see the villain as this populist leader. Good scifi always reflects from current events. And that's all that I'll say about that.
- The movie is a bit long. Maybe it could have benefitted from a bit of trim but I also feel the movie had to set a tone and environment apart from the previous movies.
