Okay, tonight it was (again) pouring rain in my corner of California, so with little to do, I broke out my BluRay of TMP: The Director's Cut and saw a teensy but funny little digital FX mistake. For backstory, the final scene on the Ent bridge sees McCoy and Spock still wearing their field jackets. According to a Making-of book that I read many moons ago (might've been "Chekov's Enterprise"), Kelley and Nimoy broke for lunch between takes and one of them accidentally spilled fried rice on the other's costume, forcing them to wear their field jackets in the final scene. Somehow in between takes of the bridge scene, they switched jackets. You can tell by the colored armbands (Spock's has an orange/science armband, McCoy's is greenish-white for medical). In the final bridge shot where the camera slowly pulls to Kirk, we see that Nimoy is wearing a white armband, while Kelly is wearing Nimoy's orange armband. Cut to the Director's Cut. The armbands on the jackets have been digitally switched back to their character's proper colors......except for the final few frames of Spock. As the camera dollies in on Kirk (before his "Out there. Thataway!" line), look VERY carefully at Spock's orange armband---it flickers back to white for the final three frames that it's visible. I know, I know...get a life, Sehlat. Couldn't help myself. For those who haven't yet seen the new Director's Cut of TMP in HD? You must! It's sooooo worth it. Star Trek TMP: Director's Cut review.

Its also like how I pointed out at the Omega sector. They still didn't fix when the Enterprise enters the maw, and approaches the next maw that traps them in, there's a external shot that shows it closed before it actually closes.
Edit: Also, I second what Sehlat said. If you haven't seen the HD/4K Directors edition, you need to. It fixes so much more than the DVD Directors edition did. This time they found almost all the film elements to reconstruct the scenes proper. Some fixes on the DVD they had to use CGI in places they didn't want to because they didn't have the elements. A lot of these elements were found this time. No more cgi Spock approaching the priestess-actual Nimoy this time. They also found the audio takes that were meant to be used originally so some audio makes more sense. And omg the blu-ray is loaded with even more special features. Has all the ones in the DVD release, but now has tons more. it has the 2001 release commentary, along with a brand new one and Mike Okuda's text commentary has been updated. The visuals are so stunning. Also they tweaked some visuals to make more sense. (Such as the Enterprise turning around when it passes over vger to face vger.
My only complaint is, the CGI Enterprise shots doesn't match the rest of the footage as well as the 2001 release did. Same complaint with VGer as it approaches Earth.

Star Trek TMP: Director's Cut review.I am amused. But I hope you CA residents are all dry and have escaped any flooding - some awful, terribly sad footage on the news. Back to TMP. I watched it on Paramount+, but now I have my very own 4K copy so I promise to watch soon. I went into that package with TWOK and went all the way to VI. Man, VI looks great compared to that 2010 release! But TMP next.

I love alot of the additional fixes the 2022 release did. Spoiler: you can now see the travel pod on the orbital office complex far away shots now. they really dug deep this time to get eveey element that Bob Wise wanted to fix but were unable to find the first time. My favorite fix in the whole movie is what they did to the officer's lounge. I am not spoiling that one.

The revised officer's lounge makes more sense in relation to the ship's exterior, though the matte lines surrounding the actors were a teensy bit... distracting. It called a bit of undue attention to itself.

I'll look carefully next time I'm watching that scene.

I'll look carefully next time I'm watching that scene. Something about Spock's head (the surrounding matte lines) look... off...in that moment when Spock sits down. It's hard to put my finger on it, exactly; technically, it's correct, but it just looks weird to me, somehow.

Might be an "uncanny valley" effect - you just know something's not quite right, whether you can pinpoint it or not.

I was more distracted by the Enterprise-D's warp plasma conduit being behind McCoy. That should've been CGI'd out too. Because it was added after they determined they could pretend this lounge was at the edge of the saucer beside the impulse engines (that conduit is supposed to be part of the impulse engine) , forgetting that those windows were already assigned to both levels of the recreation deck.
