I would like to know what were people's reactions to the attack on the Enterprise Nx-01
I remember I had lost interest in Enterprise...well not really lost interest, but lost the ability to watch it. My folks lost cable and my local UPN affiliate was pretty much almost impossible to get in on Antenna. So I had not watched any of the 3rd season. My mom was having cancer surgery and I was in the waiting room and I got sick of the damned Fox News channel, so I went up (Since I was the only one in the waiting room) and turned the channel. I passed UPN and saw Enterprise was coming on I figured "Why Not?" So first thing I noticed was the title card now said STAR TREK Enterprise. I was delighted to see that back in the name. Hated the new mix if the song that I already didn't care for. So normal episode right, normal drama. Then the attack happens. First thing I notice is the music. The music was unusually interesting and bombastic for a Berman-era Trek episode (Hated what that idiot did to the shows' music after Roddenberry died). The ship loses its hull plating in the opening volley that we see. Suddenly it cuts to Engineering where jets of fire are blowing out and debris is all over the floor. I am somewhat stunned at the pounding this ship is taking .
So we get to another cut where the Reptilian runs off Degra and chains Archer back up yadda yadda, then it cuts back to the Enterprise when I see the breaches and Engine venting and I am like "Good God!!" Next you see the bridge that is literally on fire still taking a pounding. Cuts back to engineering, one guy catches of fire. Then they evacuate. Cuts to a corridor where crew are trying to step over debris and an explosion knocks them down. - AT THAT MOMENT, I stand up and I approach the TV absolutely stunned and my mouth hanging open as the next scene we see is the axis rotation shot of the Enterprise getting batter and crew members getting blown out a hull breach (At this point, that Had never been shown before from an external angle Anywhere) And the music turns very dramatic, and we see reed and another officer helping the guy that got kidney bashed by an I-beam up and I guess off te bridge? Then that shot, that very LAST shot, you see the running lights of the Enterprise flicker out.
I WAS HOOKED.
I made ita point to visit my aunt the next week to watch it only for it to Start the season over (Didn't know it was the mid-season break). So every week my aunt let me come over to watch the 3rd season until "Damage" premiered. I remember recording the rerun of Azati prime on her VCR. I finished watching the season and was at the edge of my seat the whole time. Never had a Star Trek hero ship stayed damaged multiple episodes at a time without a reset button.
I would like to know how you all reacted when you first saw this Episode, more specifically the swiss cheesing of the Enterprise.
