Black Widow was terrible
Ant-Man Quantumania was terrible
Thor Love and Thunder was terrible
Secret Invasion was terrible
This wasn't.
It's not the trainwreck people made it out to be. Oh....it's not a good movie. It's just ok like a lot of other content in the MCU that are just mid(Thor, Shang-Chi, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Moon Knight, etc...).
The Pros:
1. Iman Vellani does bring a presence and joy. It's a little too much at times but it is welcomed.
2. The movie is short.
3. The trio worked well. The place swapping was a cool idea that I wish they would have used just a bit more.
4. The musical planet. Yes, I liked the idea.
The Cons:
1. Forgettable villain. This isn't inherent just to this movie.
2. Khan's family...especially the mom. They overstayed their welcome. A little goes a long way.
3. The musical planet. This was a fantastic idea that they seemed to drop real quick as just a gag. I would have loved to see incorporation of dance and singing when they're under attack. I can imagine capoera type moves for example. Just 30 seconds of choreography would have been cool.
4. The plot is great....the execution. Not so much. For example, Khan idolizes Carol. Carol doesn't see herself as worth any devotion given the backstory that fuels the movie. We don't get to see Carol dealing much with the repercussions of taking out The Supreme Intelligence and we don't see depth to Khan realizing she shouldn't idolize Carol. It's all glossed over when there could have been more to say about it. Same for the relationship between Carol and Monica. There was good drama to be mined in those situations.
5. Nick Fury. Not sure who this guy is in this movie. Difficult to see this as the same person dealing with the issues in Secret Invasion.
I do wonder how this sits with people who hadn't seen Wandavision and Miss Marvel.
