The camp in the trailer seems unintentional too, they were clearly trying to be edgy and cool, which does not work and all that remains is camp. Idk, that's what makes it so hilarious to me. lol

As I've said before, I think Section 31 has a necessary place in the grand scheme of things, but their portrayals have been all over the place, from dark edgelords in DS9, to dark and sort of skirting camp in DSC, to just absolute monsters in PIC.

Only just got around to watching this trailer. Looks monumentally awful! I'll still watch though. It's my duty, under the yoke of capitalism, to endure poor entertainment made in the name of a long-dead hopeful franchise.

Of course I will watch, and, I might be surprised and be entertained, but that trailer looks like Suicide Squad mashed with a rave party, circa 1995.

And that's unfortunately what we'll get out of many franchises attempting to catch the attention of generations of younger fans that have so many different instant stimuli at their fingertips. I totally get that Star Trek needs to appeal to younger generations but honestly younger generations are not used to quality entertainment. Fast flash in a pan scenes and don't think much about them. Just like social media. The preview looks horrible btw.

I am confused as to when (and where) the movie is supposed to be taking place. The past, the present, Prime, Mirror? Mirror Georgiou was sent away by the Guardian to an alternate timeline (DSC S3), right? So that was the "end" of the character as such I guess, I don't know. The emperor was recruited by S31 at some point during DSC S1. Is the movie timeline somewhere between DSC S1 and DSC S3 Prime with flashback into Georgiou's childhood on the Mirror Universe? Or it is completely set on the Mirror Universe to show S31 sort of reconnaissance missions to that universe? I guess it will be a movie set on Prime because I am not aware if there is a Mirror S31.

If there is a mirror 31 it would be the opposite of section 31 so not a secret organization and gives information away.

That opens up interesting possibilities. S31 probably do not exist on the MU because there is no Federation to create a charter with articles of constitution, there's only the Empire. But since it is a MIRROR universe some semblance of S31 could exist, albeit to negate it. So if Prime S31 is an organization with shady motives and principles (in order to ultimately protect the Federation, so they say), then it follows that Mirror S31 (with another name probably) is the opposite of the Terran Empire!! Mirror S31 could then be an organization that secretly aims to direct TE toward a more ethical direction. Come to think of it, there might even be some suggestion on TOS canon! Didn't Prime Kirk suggested to Mirror Spock that the ways of the Empire were so counterproductive that ultimately will lead to utter annihilation? Hypothesis: After Mirror Spock ascended a period of relative peace ensued, then the Empire went back to normal stabbing in the back practices BUT Mirror Spock left behind a secret organization tasked with using resources to steer the Empire toward a democratic republic: MUS31
I think I just came out with an outline for some SNW episodes. Don't you think?

I suspect that an MU S31 is a pure "oppress the people, destabilize foreign powers" organization (i.e. Obsidian Order)

I think I just came out with an outline for some SNW episodes. Don't you think? I am already pocking hole on my half-cook theory. The theory suggest that mirror Spock is the mastermind behind the Mirror Universe version of Section 31. But how could that be possible when we know from Enterprise and from Sloan own mouth that S31 go way way back to the creation of the Federation? I mean, S31 was on the founding document not only for political purposes but it was right there from the start as a government agency with big funds. Well, maybe the timelines are not exactly aligned between both universes, maybe on MU there was something before Spock, some kind of minor bureaucratic entity that Spock took and repurpose.

Spock didn't create it, he reinvented it.
