Irony if there ended up being the "Big Three Networks" of streamers that controlled all the content.

I'd laugh.

But, then, I always laugh at that segment of the cord-cutting population that strutted around and sounded superior about it. As though THEY finally solved the ala carte entertainment solution that people have been looking for since cable boxes had one clicky dial and you could get HBO free with a few pieces of tape.

These people honestly thought that streaming finally meant that owners finally lost control of their content somehow. As if they'd ever allow that to happen.

For whatever it's worth that was the hope. Cable itself came with a bunch of channels most people didn't watch. Or sports channels that comprised a bigger chunk of the monthly price.

But as you say, it's not like the suites were gonna take this and here we are in a very odd landscape.
