Not a shock since I share the experience where they don't even put new releases out anymore; you have to ask employees who have to go look.
At any rate, 4K discs are going to be the last physical movie media and that will eventually wither. The only thing I see that will extend its life is, if the streaming wars get as messy as it looks like they'll get. With all of the streamers purging content to save money and streamers looking to eat each other alive and then purge more content after they've bought out someone else, there may be a persistent niche market.
But....sadness all the same.
