First off, I went into this with an open mind. "Now Justin, the bad stuff is just the ticked off far-right nuts I'm sure". Yeah, well it starts out Ok. It really is ok. But Like Just ok. But honestly, I LOVE Jodie Whitaker's performance as the Doctor. What makes this bad? The writing. The horrible writing. The series is starting to fall on modern tropes of flashbacks and off topic scenes for preludes, its getting a bit difficult to follow.
FUXXING FLUX....
OH MY GOD.....this...what the hell? This final season Talk about anything ever ever get so convoluted and hard to follow. I am struggling to power through it. Oh suddenly the doctor has an "Unknown past". like WTF? Then we have timelines split. Now we have "Division" and the Doctor was "Found"?....is he/she even Gallefreyian? IS he/she Even a real Timelord? I'm struggle, really struggling to complete this season and make it to the specials. I can see why now Doctor Who's ratings have tanked, and why they were desperate enough to get Russell T. Davies and David Tenant back. This is horrible writing, and I can't help but feel sorry for Jodie, who is giving the performance of her life to Incoherent garbage. Like if it wasn't for the horrible writing and editing, Jodie would easily be my 2nd favorite Doctor.

I appreciate your comments. It's too easy to chalk up criticism of this show to "far right" males complaining. There is that for sure, but the problems with the show were legit. Same for Marvel, Star Trek, etc....
I think I did two eps at most when she started. Something felt off already and didn't bother watching anymore. I do wonder if I was already fatigued of Dr. Who by the time she came in. I think there were like 4 companions on those eps? Way too much.
I didn't care for Whitaker. Maybe she was trying too hard. Maybe at this point there's some sort of template of what a "Doctor" should be like and she's hitting all those notes but it felt more like a caricature to me. Again, two eps so I can't speak much.
If the directive was to cast a female doctor then I would have LOVED if somehow Michelle Gomez was the Dr. Older, beautiful in her own way but not cutesy and younger like Whitaker. She was a hell of a presence on screen. As far as I was concerned she stole every scene she was in. I could have easily watched a series based on Missy.
At this point, I'm really not interested in this franchise anymore. It just doesn't matter who they bring in to write or portray the titular role. It's been 5 years since I watched. I don't watch the reruns anymore. I feel like it's a franchise that needs to rest a number of years and come back with something different.

I struggled through it all. And yeah, it was a struggle. It's probably the all-round worst era of Doctor Who ever, which is an incredible shame, as I was a real advocate for the idea of there being a female Doctor. Unfortunately, she was written/showrun by Chris Chibnall, and unfortunately Jodie Whittaker was the incumbent, and I think is miscast. She's great at gritty urban drama - small-scale, intense roles. She was generally terrible as the Doctor, and she was absolutely not helped by the generally very poor scripts which often gave her character very little agency in her own adventures.
Having said all that, Chibnall and Whittaker's final episode is worth a look. It doesn't make much sense, but it's a rollercoaster ride and there are many cameos from past eras that give you a warm, fuzzy feeling.
I'm also one of those who isn't particularly wild about the return of RTD, feeling that Moffatt was generally the best of the 21st century showrunners (and even then with caveats), but hey. I'll take it. It's gonna be a big improvement on the Chibnall/Whittaker era, even if we have to put up with Murray Gold doing the music again. And a little birdie tells me Moffatt himself is back as a scriptwriter, so at least there's that to look forward to.
