I mean. This is like the lyrical stage of Trek. This people should be making the next Trek movie, in the Prime Universe. It is true that I am touched right now by the magic of cannabis, which magnifies the senses, but still, they got it. The tone, the reverence if you will, they use to capture Trek lore is just uncanny. Paramount should take cue and address budget that way. The video-gamey texture is great.

If you go to the Advisory Board on Otay (which produced this video), you find a bunch of high rollers from the Tech and Entertainment industries.... Hmm, kind of weird.

Yes, scenes from different eras and characters. For example, Yeoman Colt. There was a story on The Young Turks about Joe Russo claiming AI will be making movies in two years. The timing may be off in terms of AI making complete movies in the timeframe, but I can certainly envisage a time where it will be possible to generate new episodes of the original series or a series set immediately after Kirk says, “Out there, thataway.” Maybe even in my life time. Ironic, as I don’t wish to see it!

Spock on this video is not AI generated. It is an actor! With an uncanny lookalike to Nimoy but also with some help with make-up and and prosthesis. I like what they did.

I have to say when Spock blinks there was something odd about it so I thought CG or deepfake. There was that actor from one of the Phase II fan films that looked remarkably like Generations Scotty, so I stand corrected. Unfortunately the rest of what I said still stand in terms of the technological possibilities. Nevertheless, fascinating.

Yes. We had a thread about Otoy back on Omega Sector. This work show promise. I will be following related news. My take on AI continuing Star Trek?I think it is a good prospect. This is a technology, nothing more and nothing less. Tech was the fire. A book is also a technology, and photography, and TV, and so on... The question here, what humans would or could make out of it? How we use it. If AI is used to bring back Trek exactly as if it were, the exact Spock and Kirk and the rest of the crew to finish the five year mission, I would welcome it with open arms, BUT I will judge it as I judge any other Trek shows. My only caveat, a big one, the stories should be written by human beings. But tech is tech, is either a tool or an obstacle; it is up to us.

Well, I just noticed this online and posted on the Trek General sub, which I'll remove to avoid double-threads. Here's what I said, including a comment echoing Prom's on personal headcanon): This John De Lancie-narrated video on all the Enterprise's (including conceptual art and a "real-life" version of TAS) is also pretty impressive.

Specifically, Nimoy's eyes are superimposed on the new actor's. It's basically a multi-disciplinary project blending the physical and the digital and I believe that, for now, it yields better results than the more more heavily digital de-aging process championed by Disney
