This was a lot of fun. The characters worked well, the story was pretty good and they didn't feel the need to name drop everything in the Forgotten Realms but stuck to what was near the area they were in. The monsters were well chosen and it was just a good time.

Saw it on opening weekend and it was a lot of fun. There were enough nods to D&D so that everyone would know it was a D&D movie, but, for its own good, it didn't bog down in all the game lore.
Good enough that I purchased a digital copy since it's out already.

Saw it last night. Good movie. Nothing spectacular....but it wasn't meant to be something like LOTR. It didn't take itself too seriously. Kinda like what I think something like Conan 2 was going for but didn't accomplish. This hit the right tone. Speaking of hitting the right tone, I thought Pine did a great job going from comedic/aloof to serious and emotional.
I don't know anything about DnD so I figure this movie might hit such a fan differently.

I thoroughly enjoy this movie! The atmosphere was delightful, and the evocative, pastoral details are really nice. I haven't played D&D and I guess that the movie throw constant references to the game. But you don't need to be a great fan of the game to enjoy this movie. A light, charming fare.

It absolutely does. Most of this movie plays like a few fun sessions of D&D. From them needing to talk with Jarnathan (sometimes DMs running the game make up names on the fly and this feels like that) to them screwing up a trap and needing a quick way across (the intro of the staff that lets them portal from place to place which they promptly abuse all over the place really creatively), etc, this felt like a great D&D group just in a film. While Legends of Vox Machina is a bit raunchier, it's also very much an animated version of an existing campaign that's online with Critical Role and is an adaptation of their first campaign.
