This should be expanded on the Trek novelverse so that it becomes an alternate canon for those of us who refuse to accept Matalas butchering. Well, didn't they also kind of destroy all hopes of that with that "Coda" trilogy (probably the most depressing idea I've ever read for a story-wrapping concept)? Coda is a orgy of nihilism that makes this season of Picard look like the most uplifting television that's ever been.

why does "FIRE EVERYTHING WE GOT" still translate to firing only 4 Photon Torpedoes? I guess both the phaser banks and the phaser strips are just hull decoration. I could almost forgive it once...but Twice? nooooope. Also, the Titan can only load 4 photon Torpedoes at a time? Thats equal to or less than the Enterprise-A could fire. The Enterprise-D can fire 10 in a single volley from a single launchet, and in Nemesis- the Enterprise-E fires 12 photon Torpedoes from a twin launcher. Is the Neoconstitution class the new Oberth class?
Also, at the end of the episode, the way Troi encourages Jack to open the red door I got the feeling she's a changling.....that or she's being incredibly stupid. Like it would be safer to put her behind the wheel of the Titan than let her do what she's doing.

It's supposed to come off as muscular action sequence and it just feels played out. Like 2 decades ago already. I think it's more played out because the payoff is always...always so limp, when it's really a chance to show how much power your hero ship has. I mean, the ship gets to just spray torpedoes everywhere and phaser fire lancing outward and shredding anything in its path. But it's almost always just 4 torpedoes. DS9 is the only show that came close to showing what their ship could do and even they could have done it better.

I have not read those but I heard they very much burned down every thread of Trek fictional universe based on singular series to start anew, right? I got to Trek novels with DS9 relaunch series. I got pretty deep on it, from "Lives of Dax" to Typhon Pact sequence. There are some stinkers but a couple of them I consider brilliant like "The Never-Ending Sacrifice" and "The Stitch in Time". From there I got to other classic TOS novels and my collection is still active and growing.

I do. But this is one example of those podcasts that drools over "Picard", not very critical and they buy too much into the nostalgia porn thing.

The life-sucker aliens from "Times Arrow" hatch a plan to suck the life out of the multiverse and the various crews of the bookverse discover it and work together to stop it. They do. But not before bookverse Riker goes brutal despot insane for awhile, and EVERYONE dies in any number of horrible ways before the last of them ends the threat by destroying the entire universe. And, as the cherry on top, all of it...all the Mack, Swallow, etc. books leading up to that end were just Benny's unpublished manuscripts. Coda is a shitty, embarrassing orgy of cruelty and death and all of it was Mack's orchestration because he couldn't tolerate the idea of anyone else ever playing in the sandbox he built. I will never read a ----ing thing that he authors ever again.

But there are others that seems to continue the thread of some of the novelverses, but retrospectively. I recently read "Revenant" about Jadxia and the symbionts. It was quite good but it is wedge around DS9 season 4.

Who's behind the red door?
I think it's the Pah Wraiths because Jack has red eyes. What do you think about that?

Troi said in the last episode that this is an "ancient" force within Jack. Dukat doesn't really fit that.
I honestly hope it isn't the TNG cast that wraps up a DS9 plot.

But ancient is the Pah-Wraith, maybe somehow the Wraiths are hiding Dukat from getting sensed by Troi. They will find a way to explain it. The point is that it would be a terrible idea and resolution because it would trivialize DS9 final by giving it a quick, flash resolution, a gimmick, to a story with deep roots, they just don't get it! And that's why they could do it, becuase in their mind it would be "cool", like that Genesis Device in Daystrom, it is just "cool" to keep a weapon of destruction hidden from ANY kind of public scrutiny. "Chain of Command" Picard would not have accepted that. How can this show's Jean-Luic Picard be the same as Jean-Luc Picard from TNG? They are not the same person.

As part of my Admin tools I can literally go in an edit all posts. The problem with THAT is that the "Quote" and "Edit" buttons are right next to each other, so I often Edit instead of quote and then "Whoa, that's wrong." But not this time. Apologies.

What other non-corporeal life could it be. It has to be a known entity. My first thought was jack-the-ripper.
